Halifax Urban Ministries is powered by a community-wide partnership of churches, synagogues, businesses, foundations, schools, and government agencies across Volusia and Flagler counties. Together, these partners help us serve hundreds of thousands of meals and shelter hundreds of families each year — with 94 cents of every dollar going directly to services.

HUM was founded in 1981 by local churches and synagogues, chartered by the Methodist Church, and the faith community remains the heart of our work. Partner congregations prepare and serve meals, host food distribution sites, provide volunteers, and support us financially.

Local businesses fuel our mission through sponsorships, employee volunteer days, food drives, and in-kind donations.

Foundations and civic organizations provide critical funding that sustains and grows our programs.

We work alongside city, county, state, and federal agencies, as well as fellow nonprofits and school partners, to coordinate services and reach neighbors wherever they are.
